Who Gives a Crap, Round 2

wgac2

Well, here I am, putting in another order for Who Gives A Crap facial tissue, bathroom tissue and paper towels (https://www.talkable.com/x/NbyzC6).  I first posted about this in August 2017.

Did you know that 40% of the world’s population does not have access to a toilet?  This equates to approximately 2.4 billion people.  Who Gives A Crap https://us.whogivesacrap.org/) was started by three young men in July 2012 who like toilet paper (honestly, who doesn’t?) and who were appalled to learn how many people don’t have access to toilet facilities.  Around 289,000 children under 5 die every year from diarrhea and related diseases caused by poor water and inadequate sanitation facilities.  This is heart-breaking,  that’s 800 children a day, or one child dying every two minutes.  In developing countries this is a sad fact of life.  By contrast, more people in the world have mobile phones then have toilets.

Who Gives A Crap  donates 50% of their profits to non-profit organizations dedicated to providing access to hygiene, water and basic sanitation in developing countries.  As of this date, over $950,000  has been donated to help fund these projects.  It has been proven that for every dollar invested in sanitation yields $5.50 in increased economic prosperity.

This company produces bamboo toilet paper, paper towels and facial tissues.  Bamboo uses far less water than trees, produces more oxygen and doesn’t require the use of herbicides.  Using bamboo has saved over 50,000 trees, it grows like a weed (it is technically a grass) and it makes a great product.  Using bamboo saves natural resources.  Vast quantities of water; close to two million gallons, and 5,922 tons of gas emissions were avoided by using bamboo instead of wood pulp.  I ordered a case of toilet paper, a case of facial tissues, and a case of paper towels.  I am extremely happy with my purchases, and plan to continue being a customer.  You can’t beat the convenience, and it is great to know that something this basic can make such a positive difference in the world.  This is in no way is a commercial or paid endorsement for this product.  My point is that in purchasing the necessities of life, your selection can make a huge difference in the world.  You’ve got the power.  Your spending habits speak with a loud voice.  This company and those like it help people and the environment, both today and in the future.
