Working for the Greater Good

I received an interesting little catalog the other day.  It was from an organization called  GreaterGood.  GreaterGood (www.GreaterGood.org) is a ten-year old movement that works to give help where it is needed most, all over the globe.  I am very familiar with this site, and have been clicking on its affiliated links since its beginning.  Thanks to your help, GreaterGood has provided meals to 600,000 homeless veterans, distributed over 3,500,000 books to children in need, funded the education of 260 girls, and provided 300,000 safe bus rides for girls to get to and from school.  GreaterGood has also distributed 500,000,000 cups of food directly to the hungry and funded 16,093 mammograms to patients who would otherwise be unable to afford them.  But, it doesn’t stop there.  GreaterGood renovated 118 animal shelters, funded 150,625 pet vaccines, provided 200,000,000 meals and delivered 2000 trucks of food to pets in need.  It has provided over $8MM in disaster relief grants.  How do they do it?  First of all, they address specific needs through their website: http://www.GreaterGood.org.  And in their catalog they make helping affordable for regular people like us.  $18 provides 200 pounds of nutritious pet food, $5 will help rebuild and redesign an animal shelter in Florida which is currently bursting at the seams.  You can help domestic abuse victims find shelter with their children and pets through the Jackson Galaxy Project for $10.  $10 will also vaccinate five shelter pets.  Send a care package to shelter dogs or shelter cats for $10.  And this isn’t even the half of it.  You have got to see their scope of causes to believe how much they help.  Give a year-end donation or give a gift in honor of a loved one.  Your best bet to see the entire selection is to go online at                   www.greatergood.org/catalog.  Or, you can call 1-888-355-4321 M-F 10-10 PST, or mail your donation to GreaterGood.org, 6262 N. Swan Road, Ste 150, Tucson, AZ 85718.  Questions can be directed to:  donate@greatergood.org.   What better gift to give to the person who has everything than a step toward a better world?

Thanks for stopping by.  Please like and share this blog.

Thanks, Cindy
