I tend to drink bottled water instead of soda or other sweetened drinks. A major convenience store in our area, Sheetz, sells their brand of bottled water, “Sheetz for the Kidz”. I have a soft spot in my heart for Sheetz stores. We both hail from the same town, Altoona, PA. And, we are both exactly the same age! I went to grab a bottle of water at Sheetz the other day, and found their water, “Sheetz for the Kidz.” This is an employee run charity that has worked to improve the lives of needy children for the last 23 years in six states, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina. Originally named Sheetz Family Charities, Inc., the charity changed its name this past February to accurately reflect its mission. This past December, thanks to an in-store collection campaign, Sheetz raised $516,000, enabling them to help 4,000 children in their six state area. Sheetz partners with Make-A-Wish program, enabling 48 families of critically ill children to enjoy a week-long vacation in Orlando, Florida. They also partner with Salvation Army to distribute gifts to children in need during the holiday season. Some bottled water companies sell river water that they have “cleaned”, or public domain water that they siphon off. Sheetz’s water is bottled in Roaring Spring, PA, from a protected natural spring. If you are lucky enough to come across a Sheetz store, stop in and quench your thirst with “Sheetz for the Kidz” water. A little bottle of water never did so much good.
I saw this ad for Welch’s Fruit Snacks in the coupon circular of my Sunday newspaper. I know next to nothing about fruit snacks and this is not means to be an endorsement of Welch’s Fruit Snacks, but it seems like a good deal all around. If you purchase a pouch of Welch’s Fruit Snacks and text the photo to “Lunch” a $1 donation will be made to Feeding America. This donation of $1 will provide 11 meals for hungry and at-risk children. At the bottom of the ad is a coupon for $1 off any two fruit snacks. If you would like to maximize the benefit, buy the snacks, snap the photo, text it, then donate the snacks to a school with at-risk children or your local food bank. I imagine that when you are not sure where your next meal is coming from, that these treats would be quite enjoyable.
Till the next time,
“It starts with you. In the end, God simply calls you to be faithful to the things He has given you to do. He doesn’t require you to be a superstar, just faithful and obedient.”
